A relict species, meaning a plant species that has survived from earlier geological periods. It can easily be spotted during a hike by the cottony tufts at the tips of its stems. Although it occurs in large numbers in the Mohos peat bog, it can also be found along the marshy shores of Lake Saint Anne.
